Fenton - Fenton Burmese - Made with Pure Gold and Uranium! Burmese was the name give this lovely glass treatment in 1885 by its creator Fredrick Shirley, of the Mt. Washington Glass Co in New Bedford, Mass. Produced between 1885 & 1900, legend states that the name was provided by Queen Victoria who, upon receipt of a gift of this glass, was said to have exclaimed that the rich tones of blushing pink reminded her of a Burmese sunset. Enamored with the soft translucent beauty of Burmese, Fenton Glass chemist Charles Goe experimented with innumerable formula variations over a period of many years until he found just the right formula to faithfully reproduce the delicate blushing, lovelinessof the original Burmese treatment. Beautiful Burmese . . . among the rarest and most prized glass treatments collected by glass connoisseurs.
